Top 5 Skin Care Tips for Acne Prone Skin and Why They Work

There are plenty of videos and articles on the internet where people talk about what they did and their best tips on caring for your skin or get rid of acne naturally. The problem with those is that they don’t actually say why these tips are good for you and how they actually work.

Here is a video where you can discover five great skin care tips and also learn why and how they work.

Tip #1

Never neglect your skin care routine. You have to remember to do your skin care regimen every day. By this I mean wash your face every morning and evening, tone it, apply moisturizer and any acne medication you may use.

Tip #2

Knowing your skin is crucial. If you are not sure what type your skin, then make sure you find out and don’t use any products other than those geared towards your type of skin.

Also, don’t treat your skin for symptoms you don’t have. It’s not necessary to prevent things that are unlikely to show up, like rosacea, heavy wrinkles and stuff like that.

The only three things you should prevent are

  • Aging
  • Acne
  • Dark circles

Other than these three things, there is no point in using products to prevent things like heavy duty wrinkles if you’re in your twenties, or rosacea if you never had any symptom. It will only make more harm than good

Tip #3

If you’re using make-up brushes, make sure you wash them every day. The reason for this is that bacteria will go into these brushes, which create a great environment for them to grow and multiply, and if you don’t wash them you will only spread those bacteria all over your skin. This will only cause more problems and acne breakouts.

Also, make a habit of washing and changing your bed sheets and pillow cases every week. There is a lot of bacteria, dust, bed bugs and other things like these in your sheets, which if not removed, will end up on your skin. At least your pillow case should be changed twice a week.

Tip #4

Do not pick at your acne. I know this has been said over and over again, but it is important for you to understand why. Your nails are pretty unhygienic (unless you soke them constantly in disinfectant solutions). And if you pick at your acne you will break your skin, irritate it, cause infections and redness. If the pimple is not ready to come out and you pick at it, that puss will go deeper into your skin causing infection and making it bigger.

Also, when you pop the pimple you mess with the natural collagen in your skin. This causes uneven skin texture, rough patches and an overall unpleasant aspect of your skin.

The only exception when you can pop a pimple is when it is really ready to be popped.

The way to do this is:

  • Tone the area surrounding the pimple
  • Grab two cue tips and put some toner on them
  • Squeeze the pimple using the cue tips
  • Afterwards, tone the area again, wash it and clean it thoroughly.

If you do these steps, you will notice that the pimple will heal faster and you won’t get any infection and irritation of the area.

Tip #5

Drink lots of Water and eat a healthy diet.

Drinking lots of water doesn’t mean you can drink sodas, juices, smoothies and what not. Refrain yourself from those and try to drink pure water, as this has the ability to flush out toxins from your body which otherwise would end up on your skin.

Eating very healthy is probably one of the most important things you can do to prevent acne and have a clear skin. Include more fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet and make sure they are organic.

Dark green vegetables are the best as these have the most nutrients.

Always watch out what you eat and drink and be good to your body. If you treat your body with care and respect, it will return the favor and it will give you’re the skin you always wanted.

  1. Hey Romy
Some great tips you got there and many are similar to tips I shared on my site a few months back, I especially like the one about not picking the pimple, something I strongly advise people against.
Keep up the good work buddy.

    1.  @HighHealth Thanks Bobby for your comment. Agree with you, if people just left their pimples alone they wouldn’t have to deal with all those acne scars.

  2. I think the best advice here is to eat a balanced diet regularly. Nothing beats the power of essential vitamins and nutrients we get from eating fruits and vegetables. I strongly think that no matter how expensive your anti-acne creams are but if you have a poor diet, nothing will work. Healthy eating should be a top priority!

  3. I agree with tip #3. I think it’s important to keep your face clean but it’s also important to keep the things you use for your face clean as well..
