Acne Tips – How To Get Rid Of Acne in 10 Steps

Getting rid of acne is a long process and requires lots of patience from you and some helpful guidelines that will steer you into the right direction.

To get rid of acne, you will need:

  • gentle facial cleanser
  • warm water
  • towel
  • topical acne medication
  • sunscreen
  • patience

Optional itmes:

  • tissue
  • noncomedogenic cosmetics
  • shaving cream with benzoyl peroxide
  • dermatologist
  • prescription acne medicine

Step 1

Wash your face with warm water in the morning when you wake up and in the evening, before you go to bed. DO not use harsh scrubs that may damage your skin

Step 2

Gently use a towel to pat your face. Do not wipe or over wash your face, as this can remove too much of tha skin oil that is beneficial for your skin health.

Step 3

Apply a topical acne medication, an over the counter cream or a medication prescribed by your doctor. Those that contain benzoyl peroxide are very good because they reduce bacteria and salicylic acid unclogs your pores

Step 4

Protect your skin from sun rays with sunscreen lotions or cream.

Step 5

Use only noncomedogenic cosmetics, and try not to apply too much on your face. Your skin need to breathe, and if you apply to much makeup, your pores become clogged and pimples will start to appear.

Step 6

This one is for men. If you shave, do it carefully. Try to shave only when necessary and only in one direction, to avoid irritating the skin.

Step 7

Do not squeeze or pop your acne. These will only cause more damage to your face and can result in scarring

Step 8

Try to avoid as much as possible the contact with infected areas. Do not touch your face with your hands, phone, or any other objects.

Step 9

Try to keep your face as clear as possible, keep your hair off your face (available for women with long hair)

Step 10

If the problems persist, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. He will be able to prescribe a proper acne treatment based on your type of skin.

Also, be patient and remember that getting rid of acne is a long process, there is no fast, over night remedy.

  1. I get a sever acne breakout during my menstruation. It’s really annoying because it happens every month, and sometimes it stays on my face until another breakout appears.

How can I prevent this from happening?

    1. Acne breakouts during menstruation are caused by the hormonal imbalance that takes place in your body. To prevent this usually there is one thing you can do: if you are on the pill, stop taking it (or change brands). If you are not on the pill, start taking it.

These being said, it might not always solve the problem. The best thing I recommend is to talk to your gynecologist and ask him what you can do to prevent these acne breakouts. Either him or your dermatologist.

    1. Hey Lila.

No, it’s not more expensive. Or at least it shouldn’t be. Most of them are now made so they don’t clog pores, and you should check the labels everytime you buy a new product.

  2. Great skin care routine. I don’t have time to heat water to wash my face in the morning, though ๐Ÿ™ And I don’t use OTC creams (as indicated in step #3) because they dry my skin out.
